Actress Krysten Ritter arrives at a special screening of “The September Issue” at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art on September 8, 2009 in Los Angeles, California.  She was the first of a trio to wear a frilly nude cocktail dress out this week.  She also takes the cake for best presentation of  a trend.  Amanda Peet wore her version, belted with black stockings to the Jason Wu show at MBFW today and Jacinda  Barrett accessorized with gold bracelets and RED lips for the premiere of Whiteout in Los Angeles.  We think Ritter got it right because she used gold, bare legs, graceful shoes to maximum effect.  The simple fact that her raven hair compliments the palette puts her at a natural advantage.  What is your take?

One is bound to stand out on the red carpet in a monochromatic white suit, but lately you’d chance blending into the crowd.  It is nearly summer and who isn’t excited to wear something crisp and clean looking, but not everyone pulls it off as well as say, Sharon Stone did in her creamy three piece worn last year in February.  Kate Hudson wore her slice of ivory showing less skin, but looked sophisticated and elegant.  Katy Perry and Amy Adams opted for super white with more of a hard edged glamour but both pulled the suit off well.  We wrote about Diane Keaton’s proclivity for “the white suit” last year, but it seems the powerful comfort of such an ensemble is far reaching this season.  See more stars in white suits here.  Who saves this trend from the snooze?

Pixie has opted out of the bald brow aesthetic and she actually looks quite striking in cropped peroxide blonde and near black lipstick, but if the dark lipstick trends’  life cycle is anything like that of distressed denim, you will be seeing some terrible appropriations in suburban malls in a few years.

Queen Latifah wore a dark lip to the premiere of “The Secret Life of Bees” in October and Gwyneth Paltrow has been flirting with the darkest of reds all year.   Do you think we will be seeing nouveau Jean Harlows in our town this year?  Take a walk down memory lane to the 1990’s Vamp look here.
