Actress Anne Hathaway and designer Valentino attend the Los Angeles premiere of “Valentino: The Last Emperor” at the Bing Theatre at LACMA on April 1, 2009 in Los Angeles, California.   Valentino LOVES Anne Hathaway (and Gwyneth Paltrow)  and both alabaster skinned actresses were at the premiere in support of the documentary that follows Valentino and partner Giancarlo Giammetti during the last days working together at the influential house of fashion.   Valentino always wears a Mediterranean glow, but alongside Hathaway his bronze takes on a new life.

Actor George Hamilton attended the “Vanity Fair Portraits: Photographs 1913-2008″ Exhibit grand opening party at the Los County Museum of Art on October 21, 2008.  Though Hamilton boasts his signature “healthy glow” at the Vanity Fair party, he was in fact not always tan!  In a rare photograph of the actor taken at age 19 (right), we can see that he is relatively unbaked.  Hamilton works the tan with wink and his skin texture doesn’t seem the worse for it.  As tans fade from favor, with higher levels of skin cancer reported, links to premature aging and eye opening technology such as Coppertone’s Derma PhotoBooth widely available, will we return to an aesthetic that touts a lighter shade of pale?
