Getty Images Statement on the Release of Iranian Freelancer Majid Saeedi

While we are relieved to hear of Majid Saeedi’s release from prison in Iran, it is important to note that he has not been cleared of any charges. We understand that Majid is set to face trial on the charges set by Iranian prosecutors, and is possibly facing several years in prison if convicted.

Majid Saeedi, a freelance photographer for Getty Images, is a diligent and committed photojournalist who documented the reality he observed.  We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as they are available.

Getty Images rejects the charges against freelance photographer Majid Saeedi by Iranian prosecutors. Majid is simply a diligent and committed photojournalist who documented the reality he observed. He is being charged for merely doing his job.
