Actress Maggie Gyllenhaal poses in the press room at the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in an aqua and black leopard print dress adapted from Lanvin’s Summer ‘09 collection.  The dress was also featured in Vogue Magazine’s January issue.  Maggie has the legs for the runway version, but she has formalized the gown with a floor grazing length and belt.  Gyllenhaal’s playful frock seems to have polarized people in a love-hate moment.  Getty Entertainment bloggers are split.  Thumbs up or down on Gyllenhaal’s in Lanvin?

Orange Alert

Maggie Gyllenhaall donned an uncharacteristically bright colored dress to the Japanese Premiere of The Dark Knight today. The Dark Knight star usually opts for simple dresses erring towards the flowy in dark colors with the occasional floral thrown into the mix. This neon-esque orange, lace dress shows off Gyllenhaal’s fit form, as most of the dresses she has worn have not. Orange in particular is a great way to make make people take notice, and for the understated Gyllenhaal, the effect is even more dramatic. Check out other head turning orange dresses here.

Trend: One-Shouldered Gowns (And Feathers!)

Monday, February 26th, 2007

Showing up early did Maggie Gyllenhall good, not only did she get the best full-length shot of the evening (could the color and spacing be any more perfect?), she nailed two trends in one. It seemed like every starlet under the sun wore a one-shouldered gown to the Oscars and the after parties. This style seemed to work on everyone from Cate Blanchett to Sarah Michelle Geller, but a Gyllenhall’s Proenza Schouler satin dress with Venetian glass on the bodice and feather embroidery at hem created multiple fashion trends at once!

Trend: Stacked Jewlery

With the influence of more-is-more stylist Rachel Zoe, who styles Anne Hathaway (pictured) and Cameron Diaz, the stacked jewlery trend has overtaken the 2007 Oscars. Jessica Biel and Maggie Gyllenhall gladly oblidged to pile their jewels on as well (but in a more simple manner). This trend was not only made for the young, Catherine Deneuve gave her own brand of throw away-French-chic to her austere ruby and diamond braclets.
