Keffiyeh flavored scarves are keeping more than one actor cozy on the chilly streets of Park City, Utah during The 2008 Sundance Film festival. David Haley is supporting his film, North Starr and Colin Farrell is at Sundance for, In Bruges. Both accessorized their monochromatic outfits with similar scarves. The cotton or cotton – wool mix Shemagh or Keffiyeh is traditionally worn by Arab men for sun and sand protection, but has been embraced by Westerners, especially those with a hipster slant, in recent years. Urban Outfitters yanked scarves from their shelves inspired by this traditional Palestinian fabric in 2007 for the sake of cultural sensitivity. Vice Magazine deemed the trend a “don’t” the same year but actresses such as Kirsten Dunst and Diane Kruger were feeling “do” when they donned this lightweight, graphic textile as an accessory. Now it’s the boys’ turn.
