Winehouse Mixing It Up… Again

Thursday night Amy Winehouse took over the London night spot, Camden Monarch to debut her club night: Snakehips At The Monarch. Records that have inspired the beehived spectacle were spun in a “DJ battle” opposing Winehouse against DJ Bioux. Who can play the best Sleaze, Garage and Exotica tracks? Who’s keeping score? In any case there isn’t much room to get down, as hoard of camera toting fans monopolized the dance-floor, waiting for the night to unravel.

Amy Winehouse Lyrics = Poetry?

Students at Cambridge University are studying a song by Amy Winehouse. ” Love Is A Loosing Game” from her album ‘Back to Black’ is being studied as poetry for an English literature class.

The lyrics for the Amy Winehouse song include:

For you I was a flame/Love is a losing game/Five storey fire as you came/Love is a losing game/Why do I wish I never played/Oh, what a mess we made/And now the final frame/Love is a losing game/Played out by the band love is a losing hand.”

Wino Needs More Than A Single Quantum

Though we were unaware that the notorious British soul crooner/rehab fan was in the running to record the theme song for the new James Bond movie (the absurdly titled Quantum of Solace), Amy Winehouse has reportedly nixed plans for the song. Her longtime producer, Mark Ronson (also known, by me, as one of the sexiest dudes on the planet) chalked it up to Wino being ‘unfit to record’, but her people are telling the media that Wino herself is unhappy with the song and decided to give it up.

Wino is perfect for a Bond song. This sucks! However, the worst-titled major Hollywood film since What Dreams May Come doesn’t really deserve her.

Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse (in D & G) performed together for the first time in ages at the 2008 BRIT Awards in London. The über-producer and troubled chanteuse had a falling out over Amy’s no-show at Ronson’s video shoot for “Valerie,” for which Amy sang the lead vocal. Bringing down the house last evening, the two musical masterminds cannot deny their chemistry, which is why they’re soon heading to the studio to record Amy’s much-anticipated third LP.

Try To Make Me Go? I Say Yes, Yes, Yes

It’s been rumored for quite a while that Amy Winehouse was considering a trip to rehab – picking up the humor value implicit in this suggestion doesn’t take a rocket scientist – but now it’s official. A rep for the troubled soul singer confirmed yesterday that Winehouse has already taken up residence in a rehabilitation center at an undisclosed location. This decision was reached with consultation from Winehouse’s family and reps at Universal Music Group, the latter being known for its endearing compassion, particularly when the artist in question has one of the hottest albums of the decade.

In all seriousness though, we wish Winehouse the best. She’s a talented young woman, and we hope she avoids the Billie Holiday route, or in other words the sine qua non of R&B.
