It’s beginning to feel a lot like AWARDS SEASON! People’s Choice Award winners, Kid Rock, Katherine Heigl, Kate Hudson, Robin Williams, Ellen DeGeneres, Christina Applegate, Dakota Fanning and Reese Witherspoon ham it up for an exclusive portrait by Getty Images’ Michael Caufield.  We were so happy to see a healthy Christina Applegate looking radiant in a jewel encrusted gown and can you believe Dakota Fanning is 15?  Below, winners Reese Witherspoon and Teri Hatcher do an obligatory high-five session with the lucky audience members in the front row. (I see your Christian Louboutin red soles!)  See more shots from the People’s Choice Awards here.

Building Character In One Easy Step

Singer Alicia Keys visits “Late Show with David Letterman” at the Ed Sullivan Theater on November 11th embracing geek chic in a pair of bold black frames and a minimalist palette.  Nerds have been having their revenge on the fashion world for the past few years.  Glasses have begged to be seen in thicker and darker shapes.  Kanye West has embraced dork more fully than most celebrities.  You can expect to see spectacles on quirky actors such as Chloe Sevigny or Alan Cummings, but when swans such as Keys or Rose McGowan embrace a heavy frame we know the style is as mainstream as ever.  In a world where we root for Ugly Betty and recover from the wrath of gluttony, we seek modesty and substance.  Glasses create the guise of intelligence and groundedness with a simple push of the finger.  See other four-eyed celebrities here.

Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse (in D & G) performed together for the first time in ages at the 2008 BRIT Awards in London. The über-producer and troubled chanteuse had a falling out over Amy’s no-show at Ronson’s video shoot for “Valerie,” for which Amy sang the lead vocal. Bringing down the house last evening, the two musical masterminds cannot deny their chemistry, which is why they’re soon heading to the studio to record Amy’s much-anticipated third LP.

Best Performance: Alicia Keys

Performing her new single “No One” and melding into George Michael’s “Freedom,” Alicia Keys was the performance of the evening at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards held at The Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. It was refreshing to see an artist exude confidence, talent, and joy on stage unlike many of today’s musical performers. Keys is breath of fresh air in a sea mediocrity.
