David Carradine, the actor best known for his role as Kwai Chang Caine in the 1970’s television series, Kung Fu was found dead by his own hand (misadventure) on June 4th in Bangkok, Thailand where he was filming a movie.   While his face is synonymous with that of the placid Kung Fu master, he acted in over 100 films including those by directors Martin Scorsese, Ingmar Bergman and Hal Ashby.  He was a member of the Carradine acting dynasty including his father John, half- brothers Bruce, Keith and Robert and nieces Martha Plimpton and Ever Carradine.  He leaves behind wife, Annie and two daughters Calista Miranda and Kansas.  Our thoughts go out to his loved ones.  Let’s take a look at David Carradine through the years here and here.

Musician, Jewel arrives at TV Guide’s Sexiest Stars 2009 in Los Angeles, California looking sassy despite having suffered a serious knee injury while filming Dancing With The Stars last month.  Wearing a sequined mini tank dress, Jewel calls to mind the tradition of using a dance cane as a prop at the cabaret.

Something was afoot at the Brian Reyes’ 2009 Fall Show at Bryant Park during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York.   Rachel Bilson and Ivanka Trump watched a number of models gracefully bite the dust on the runway.  Hiccups aside, the show was a soothing flow of up-swept mystery girls with a bohemian flair.   The collection showed an unusual but totally apropos hybrid of organic ease and uptown sophistication.  The palette was neutral give or take a blue, light green or a berry shade.  Fabrics were textural in dimension or optic depth using batik, satin and beading.

The extent to which the models lost shoes was so extreme that one might have thought it was purposeful and what a joy if it had been!  Theater on the runway indeed.  In the last round, models did without heels in what must have been a spontaneous decision that came off as a celebratory gesture.  See it all here.

Heath Ledger’s parents Kim and Sally with his sister Kate (R) stood outside their home in Perth, Australia to give a brief statement to the media. The Ledger family described their family member’s passing as “accidental.”  Ledger’s cause of death has yet to be determined by initial autopsy reports. George Clooney left his hotel in good spirits but not all has been well for Clooney and his girlfriend, Sarah Larson. While in New York City for the filming of Burn After Reading, both Clooney and Larson were involved in a motorcycle accident, escaping with minor injuries. According to police reports, Clooney was driving his Harley-Davidson north on Boulevard East in Weehawken, N.J., at 3:30 p.m. when he collided with a 1999 Mazda Millenia. Clooney – accompanied by Larson – was passing on the right of the vehicle as it attempted to make a right turn on the two-lane road. Clooney suffered a hairline fracture of a rib and road rash, and Larson broke her big toe.
