Social media has upended the traditional promotional methods of engaging with customers, leaving you left to explore which of the social media channels are best for your marketing and communications plans. Do you engage through a branded Facebook group? A Twitter feed? Or do you create customer awareness through a viral YouTube video or design your own personal page for a fresh look? Whatever your strategy, imagery will continue to remain integral to creating an engaging user experience for any of your social media programs.

Getty Images recognizes that our customers need to be more nimble than ever, and our licensing must continue to evolve accordingly. Today, Getty Images has introduced two new licensing options designed specifically for social media use. When licensing any creative image under our rights-managed licensing model, customers can now select “Other Web & Mobile Uses” category to find:

  • Web – Social Media for advertising or promotional use*
  • Web – Social Media for non-commercial, editorial use*

* Price is determined on duration of use, territory

Now, you can take advantage of the social networking buzz with the use of compelling imagery from our premium rights managed collections, complete with indemnification.

Let us know what you think about our continued efforts to develop simplified licensing models. We want to help you do your best work.

A re-designed details page

Key information about our images and clips is now easier to find.

  • Faster display when you click an image or clip thumbnail.
  • Physical dimensions shown along with price for royalty-free images.
  • Similar images or clips, when available, are shown directly on the details page.

Similar images and clips shown automatically

We’ve added a new feature. When searching our site, it’s now easier to find similar images and clips. For about a third of our creative images and clips, we’ve selected similar shots from the same day and contributor. Where available, you can see them in the following ways:

  1. On the search results page
  2. A See similar images (or See similar clips) link appears below the thumbnail. It will take you to a new page that shows similar shots for that specific image or clip. Example of similar images link on search results page

Tip: You can open this link in a new browser tab or window.

  3. On the details page
  4. A thumbnail view of similar images or clips appears in the upper-right of the details page. Example of similar images on details page

There’s no need to double check that URL, you have come to the right site — we’ve just fixed ourselves up a bit. Now, instead of having four separate blogs, we’ve combined all of our great content into one Getty Images blog.

But don’t worry, if you only want to read about your favorite subjects, you can sort by the categories on the right side of the page. And check it out – we’ve added two more: Music and Website Updates!

Moving from four blogs to one is just the beginning. Soon we’ll be translating posts in different languages, improving the look and feel of the site, and all the while continuing to post the great stories behind Getty Images that you’ve become accustomed to.

Thanks for coming and be sure to check back here soon!
