New Year’s Eve is a time for gathering together, rejoicing in the moment and taking one last look back before leaping into the year ahead.

That’s why we were thrilled when the good people of Federation Square in Melbourne, Australia told us they’d like their New Year’s Eve celebration to include powerful, year-in-review imagery from our award-winning Getty Images photographers.

So how do you pull just a handfull of images to represent a whole year? It’s no easy task, let me assure you.

Thankfully, our Getty Images team worked hard to curate a special collection of photographs that put our Year in Focus. Then, our team in Australia added in some other favorites:

Finally, our Getty Images Music team arranged for a track from the artist, Any Kind, to accompany the visuals.

And the result?

The images are on display in the square several times a day through Dec. 31. Then, the slideshow will play as part of the Federation Square New Year’s Eve festivities, beginning at 8:30 p.m.

If you’re in the area, we’d love to hear from you. Post a comment below and let us know what you think!
