Season of sports – Athletic concepts shot in a cool, sleek way

With Ironman 70.3 coming up this month in Chile and South Africa, we’re thinking a lot about how the feelings associated with races like these — concepts such as health, freedom and being one with the elements — are represented creatively.

So naturally, the striking images shot by renowned photographer Patrik Giardino and art directed by our own Scott MacBlane, immediately come to mind.

You can read more about the shoot and the thinking behind the creative direction on Curve, but MacBlane sums it up like this:

“The inspiration was drawn from the ‘everyday sportsman’ — casting two athletes that train on a higher level, but that are not professionals. … The viewer gets the feeling of being there with them in their element.”
