Happy First Birthday Flickr Collection!

Since the Flickr Collection’s debut in March 2009, more than 100,000 amazing images have been made available for our customers to license. These pictures were taken by 10,000 photographers in more than 100 countries, all of whom are active in the Flickr community.
With a year under our belt, and a continuously growing collection, we are pleased to report things are moving along really well. Which is all good, but how can we make it great?
We’ve been working with our friends at Flickr to find a way to make it possible to help customers license imagery they see on Flickr. “Request to License” is a new program that benefits both the photographer and the customer.
How does it work?
Customers will see a “Request to License via Getty Images” option on imagery by Flickr artists who have opted into the program. Once requested, Getty Images will contact the Flickr member and handle all of the details like permissions, releases and pricing.
So, while our expert editors continue to add more images to the Flickr Collection on Getty Images from the four billion created by Flickr’s community, customers can now browse Flickr to find exactly what they need for their campaign and use it legally – all through the Request to License feature!
