Last September Krisanne Johnson was awarded a grant from our Getty Images Grants for Editorial Photography program. We are delighted to announce that she has completed her project and has provided a summary of her work along with a stunning gallery of supporting images.

Krisanne’s project was focused on the coming of age of girls in Swaziland, a small African nation that reports the highest percentage of HIV-positive people in the world. The population that is hardest hit with this devastating disease is the young female population. With the grant provided by Getty Images, Krisanne was able to continue her work documenting the struggles and challenges as well as the joys and triumphs of these young women.
