A Cauldron of Inspiration

February 20, 2010 | By Bruce Bennett | Sport

I had an unexpected surprise this morning as I opted to walk from the hotel to the Main Press Center. The weather was great and I wasn’t carrying the usual load of equipment, so I weaved my way through the city exploring different streets on the way into the office. Twenty minutes later, I just happened upon the Olympic Cauldron.  My first thought was “how did they move this thing from the Opening Ceremony to here?”  I am so enmeshed in hockey games every day that I had forgotten that I had heard about the REAL Olympic flame being located along the city’s waterfront.

So with beautiful angular early morning light and a just a few minutes to spare en route for an 8am phone call, I blasted off a few frames. I would have loved to spend some time there as the images are a little too ‘touristy’ in flavor for my taste. I’m definitely going to set my alarm some morning to head back and shoot from every possible angle.
