Looking forward looking back: A quick hello and intro from the Archive Editors in London…

December 8, 2009 | By Bob Ahern | Archive

West London is the home of Getty Images Archive — the world’s biggest commercial photo library with 80 million images, 1,500 collections and 25 km of racking, which is everything captured from the birth of photography to the present under one roof.

Laurie Hill/Still frame grab from short film, "Photograph of Jesus"

Starting today, three editors from the Archive will be checking in and joining other Getty Images bloggers every week with the latest from the Archive: whether that’s bringing a little context to today’s news, insights from our photographers or a look at what’s coming up in the archive diary.

To kick us off in style, we’d like to share a link to our favorite film short created by filmmaker Laurie Hill.  Laurie has been taking home awards by the armful for his short film, “Photograph of Jesus,” which was originally an entry to a competition that Getty Images set up with London’s only short film community, Short And Sweet.  It’s a magical piece beautifully shot and oozing talent… you can check it out here.

We are a bit biased given the subject matter, but hope you enjoy it!
