Bridget below writes about color gradation at the House of Holland show during London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2009. House of Holland received much exposure when M.I.A wore their Spring/Summer 2008/2009 dress to the 51st Annual GRAMMY Awards. The Spring/Summer 2008/2009 season was all about polka dots – with his next collection so strongly influenced by color gradation strips, one wonders if the polka dot was influenced by halftone dots used in printing. Roy Lichtenstein made these dots famous in his comic-book adapted Pop Art. What other inspiration will Henry Holland find at the design students’ desk?
