Brian Reyes: Footloose And Fancy Free

Something was afoot at the Brian Reyes’ 2009 Fall Show at Bryant Park during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York. Rachel Bilson and Ivanka Trump watched a number of models gracefully bite the dust on the runway. Hiccups aside, the show was a soothing flow of up-swept mystery girls with a bohemian flair. The collection showed an unusual but totally apropos hybrid of organic ease and uptown sophistication. The palette was neutral give or take a blue, light green or a berry shade. Fabrics were textural in dimension or optic depth using batik, satin and beading.
The extent to which the models lost shoes was so extreme that one might have thought it was purposeful and what a joy if it had been! Theater on the runway indeed. In the last round, models did without heels in what must have been a spontaneous decision that came off as a celebratory gesture. See it all here.

Brian Reyes is truly exceptional… he took the shoe catastrophe and turned it into a light hearted joke by sending all the models out without their shoes on for the finale. Who cares about the shoes though … his clothes were amazing and his line for this show was stunning… so feminine!

This was absolutely fabulous, I definitely agree with you! Brian made the decision to forget the shoes and the models still looked stunning and fabulous in the collection! His collection was unbelievable – classic and elegant with a current look! I was so impressed with the show!

I think Brian handeled this disaster with such class. It explains why all of his designs exute this amazing quality.

Even though the shoe incident wasn’t planned, I felt that it brought flair to what would have otherwise just been another runway shoe. Brian handled this disaster impeccably and presented a show that no one in attendance will soon forget.
