Superstar director Steven Spielberg, who has charmed audiences around the globe (possibly the universe!) with his crowd-pleasing fantasies, has been announced as the recipient of the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association typically gives the award to an actor – every winner since the year 2000 has been a male movie star, with the exception of Barbra Streisand. The Golden Globes are set for January 13, 2008. Spielberg’s last film was the 2005 drama-thriller Munich, and next year sees the release of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which stars Harrison Ford (duh), Shia LaBeouf, Jim Broadbent, Raiders of the Lost Ark star Karen Allen, and Cate Blanchett!

In other Globe news, one result of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis’s celebrity breeding adventures, Rumer Willis, will serve as Miss Golden Globe. Here she is below with hottie actor Josh Brolin at the announcement press conference.
