The insanely sexy, industry-shy Briton came out of his shell Monday night for a screening of his first film in two years, Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood. Looking like Anna Wintour’s hot homeless friend, Day-Lewis gave a Q&A with his co-star Paul Dano (of color-blind Little Miss Sunshine fame) about his role in the eagerly awaited period film. Paramount Vantage and Miramax have been quiet with the typical pre-release shenanigans, choosing to slowly build positive buzz as opposed to the typical spate of festival-whoring. Before Monday night’s Beverly Hills screening, the film had only been shown publicly once, at a surprise screening at Austin’s Fantastic Fest. Reportedly, that audience was in a state of rapture after the screening. Would someone please give Paul Thomas Anderson some Oscars already?
