The Trail of The Stanley Cup – Tuesday, June 5

Monday brought Game Four to Ottawa along with a long, hard rain. So I sent our stringer Phil MacCallum outside to shoot the fans. Yes, life isn’t always fair.

Runner/Tech Matt Murnaghan contemplates his future during game four.

Last night in game four, Ottawa took the early lead but Anaheim rebounded for a 3-2 win and a 3-1 series lead. Our stringer and editor/runner combo of Phil and Matt Murnaghan insist we’ll be back for game six on Saturday but we’ll have none of that stuff. We intend of having this closed out Thursday in Anaheim even if we have to blind the Ottawa golatender with our strobes. Home on Thursday means a weekend poolside.

The editors put up about 175 images of the game including multiple images from varied angles of goals and celebration as well as key hits and saves. Dave Sandford and Jim McIsaac shot from ice level with Jeff Gross and I covering from above. After celebrity duty, MacCallum joined in from above as well.

Postgame, we crated up our gear for the NHL who would deliver it directly to customs the next morning. The equipment will be delivered directly to the Honda Center in Anaheim. Very civilized. It should always be this easy.

By 12:30am the game had long ended and we headed back to the hotels. By 2am the sensible members of the crew (names withheld) were safely nestled in their beds for the 5:30am wake up call.

Two of the Ottawa papers were graced with a pooled netcam image by our own Jim McIsaac bearing the credit line ‘Jim McIsaac/Reuters’.  We suspect he’s double-dipping.
