Hotel heiress, reality TV star, and pop culture phenomenon Paris Hilton arrived with a somber look and conservative suit to match at the Metropolitan Branch Courthouse in Los Angeles, California. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Sauer sentenced Hilton to spend 45 days in jail for violating the terms of her probation for alcohol-related reckless driving. Hilton’s driving privileges were suspended after she was pulled over for driving without headlights on February 27, 2007. “[Hilton] disregarded everything … and didn’t care and kept driving,” said Sauer. Her attorney, Howard Weitzman, countered stating, “I’m shocked and disappointed at the sentence by the judge. To sentence Paris Hilton to jail is uncalled for, inappropriate and ludicrous. She was singled out for who she is. She’s been selectively targeted. Paris was honest in her testimony. We plan to appeal. Shame on the system.” Stay tuned to gettyimages.com as the Hilton legal battles unfold.
