Australian MotoGP – Final Qualifying

September 16, 2006 | By admin | Sport

It was another exciting day here at Phillip Island with Nicky Hayden taking pole position in the dying seconds of final qualifying. Here Nicky Hayden shows his jubilation at taking pole position by popping a wheelie in front of the crowd.

It was a cold overcast morning here today, but the sun broke through for a warm afternoon and bright blue skies. This shot was taken at the fast turn 11, the riders come out of here and into turn 12 as they make their way to the start finish straight. I have used the shape of the track here to go for a different shot.

James Ellison of Great Britain, and the Tech 3 Yamaha team, leans into turn 10.

Casey Stoner of Australia and the LCR Team blasts out of turn six as he heads into turn seven. I shot through a tree here to make it a bit more interesting than just a plain panning shot.
