Brazil v Ghana, 27 June 2006, Stadium Dortmund: Brazilian Craziness!
So the great news today is that Elvis is a Brazilian fan and is alive and living in Germany. It’s true! I saw him with my own eyes and he was holding the World Cup too! And, the other great news today is Ronaldo, with his fifteenth goal, is the all-time leading scorer in the history of the World Cup. When history is made like this, it’s always nice to say that I was there and even better to be able to record part of the action.
The match itself was a physical affair and one in which Brazil appeared more focused and very much in control. From a photographers point of view, the matches are just warming up and the quarter final match against France, which is a re-run of the final in 1998, should I hope, be one of the best from this tournament. I have good memories from the final in 1998 as it gave me one of my best football pictures ever – a collision between Ronaldo and Fabian Bartez. With the added genius of Ronaldinho and Zinadine Zidane, it’s a match that I can hardly wait to capture.
